Following Thursday’s marked improvement, the weather is set to become significantly more changeable again on Friday and throughout the weekend. Friday will begin with strong, foehn-like south-westerly winds in the mountains, accompanied by extensive, high cloud fields. Around midday, these will thin out considerably, allowing the sun to shine brightly for a while. However, from late afternoon onwards, new, dense clouds will begin to roll in. These are part of a cold front which may bring a few showers, particularly during the night leading into Saturday. At the same time, it will become noticeably colder and the snow line will drop to 1,200 metres by Saturday morning. Saturday itself will be changeable with longer sunny spells. There will be hardly any precipitation, but it will remain cold, as is typical for early winter. The next batch of warm-air clouds will move in during the night leading into Sunday. These will cause a marked rise in temperature, particularly in the mountains. Some precipitation is then possible as early as Sunday morning, and by Sunday afternoon it will be wet everywhere. The snow line will rise sharply during the day, to over 2,500 metres. The start of the new week will still be somewhat changeable, but dry, and afterwards we’ll see the finest ‘Golden October’ weather once again.
